Score One for Uno

Written by sgillies | Jul 31, 2008

Some time ago on this blog we noted that second-year sire Macho Uno (TrueNicks, SRO) was one to watch. The champion 2-year-old of his crop and half-brother to Awesome Again was represented by Arlington-Washington Futurity (gr. III) and Breeders' Futuirty (gr. I) victor Wicked Style, and two-time stakes winning filly Swifty Victress, with his first 2-year-olds.

This year he's added two other top class horses in Harlem Rocker, winner of the Withers Stakes (gr. III) and the Prince of Wales Stakes (the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown) and Macho Again. Winner of the Derby Trial and runner-up in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) earlier in the spring, Macho Again jumped to a position very near the top of the division by holding off Pyro to take the Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II), with Belmont Stakes (gr. I) victor Da' Tara, and graded stakes scorers Tale of Ekati, Anak Nakal, and Mint Lane also in the beaten field.

Alan Porter has written previously about Holy Bull and his sons... he's written about Milwaukee Brew's stud career -- today, it all comes together as Alan predicts a future pedigree affinity between these two sires.
