Riddle Appointed to Kentucky Horse Racing Commission

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has appointed Dr. Tom Riddle of Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital as a member of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Riddle replaces Dr. Stuart Brown, who resigned after being named Keeneland's equine safety director last month. Riddle will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending April 27, 2021. The son of a veterinarian, Riddle is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He moved to Kentucky to serve an internship with Dr. Don Witherspoon at Leslie Combs' Spendthrift Farm. Following his internship, he spent another three years working at Spendthrift. In 1982, Riddle joined Bill Rood in his ambulatory practice in Lexington and formed Rood & Riddle, the practice known and respected throughout the world for innovative and highly skilled treatment of horses. Riddle has served as president of the Kentucky Association of Equine Practitioners, the Society for Theriogenology, and the Theriogenology Foundation. He received the Steiner Award for Excellence in the Practice of Theriogenology and is an honorary member of the American College of Theriogenologists. Theriogenology is a branch of veterinary medicine encompassing all aspects of reproduction. Riddle has a breeding farm practice in Central Kentucky and serves as director of public relations for Rood & Riddle.
