There's no doubt that Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) winner Tiz the Law is the hometown favorite in the $1 million Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1) due to a heavy concentration of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., area residents comprising the Sackatoga Stable ownership group.
He's also turning out to be a huge favorite in betting across the country.
As of 12:25 p.m. ET Aug. 8, Tiz the Law is a 1-5 favorite in advance wagering for the Aug. 8 Midsummer Derby at Saratoga Race Course. Of the $33,268 wagered to win so far, $20,690 has been placed on the 3-year-old son of Constitution .
Uncle Chuck is the 3-1 second choice, followed by Max Player (13-1), Country Grammer (16-1), South Bend (27-1), Caracaro (33-1), and Shivaree (59-1).
With the scratch of First Line, there will be a field of seven in the 1 1/4-mile stakes with a post time of 6:15 p.m. ET. The race can be seen on FOX.
Scratches from the other graded stakes on Saturday's Saratoga card are Another Broad in the Waya Stakes (G3T) and Wicked Whisper in the Longines Test Stakes (G1).
