Five-time group/grade 1 winner Flintshire got his stallion career off the mark when the regally bred Talacre struck at the fourth time of asking Sept. 19 at Gowran.
The Juddmonte homebred is out of the winning Oasis Dream mare Bird Flown, and is therefore a half sister to this year's Tattersalls Irish Two Thousand Guineas (G1) hero Siskin, who also won the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (G1) as a juvenile.
Like her year-older half brother, the 2-year-old Talacre is trained by Ger Lyons, who has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Khalid Abdullah's operation.
Bird Flown is herself a half sister to the listed winner Barsanti, who placed in a further 10 black-type contests. Her half sister Rising Tornado produced the multiple grade 1 scorer Close Hatches, who in turn is the dam of Juddmonte's three-time grade 2 winner Tacitus .
Flintshire is another homebred who raced in the familiar green and pink Juddmonte silks, winning the likes of the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (G1) and the Longines Hong Kong Vase (G1) when trained by Andre Fabre. He also finished second behind Treve and Golden Horn in two editions of the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1).
The son of Dansili then switched to Chad Brown's U.S. stables in 2016, where he notched up a further two top-level successes in the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Stakes (G1T) and Sword Dancer Stakes (G1T), before ending his career with a valiant second to the globe-trotting Highland Reel in the 2016 Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) at Santa Anita Park.
Flintshire stands at Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Lexington, where his 2020 fee was advertised at $15,000.
