Millionaire Lookin At Lee , a two-time stakes winner best known for running second behind Always Dreaming  in the 2017 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1), has been retired, co-owner Michael Levinson tweeted Oct. 21.

The winner of the Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes at 2 and the Downs At Albuquerque Handicap last summer at 5, Lookin At Lee struggled this year at 6. The son of Lookin At Lucky was winless in six starts in 2020, managing just one in-the-money finish, a distant third at Remington Park Sept. 11. He last raced Oct. 17, running ninth in an allowance race on the Remington Park turf.

Trained throughout his career by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen, Lookin At Lee won four of 35 races and more than $1.3 million for L and N Racing, a four-way partnership composed of Lee, Andy, and Michael Levinson and Don Nelson. He raced in all three legs of the 2017 Triple Crown, finishing fourth in the Preakness Stakes (G1) and seventh in the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1). He also was fourth the previous fall in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

His most productive years came at 2 and 3 when he ran second in the 2016 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1) and third in the 2017 Arkansas Derby (G1).

"What a horse!" Michael Levinson tweeted. "We hope to stand him in a regional market in 2021."

A $70,000 purchase by his owners at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale from the Penn Sales consignment, Lookin At Lee is out of the stakes-winning Langfuhr mare Langara Lass. He is a half brother to two stakes winners, including Blended Citizen  (by Proud Citizen), a three-time grade 3 winner.
