The Elkstone Group's Getridofwhatailesu, making her first start since a winning effort at Oaklawn Park last March, returned to Oaklawn Jan. 23, took advantage of her favored stablemate's bad start, and came flying late to win her first stakes by 1 1/2 lengths in the $150,000 Pippin Stakes.

Several horses vied for the lead in the one-mile race with Wicked Whisper leading for the first quarter in :23.42 and Graysonsmacho Girl leading to the half in :47.13, but in the end, they were no match for the winner, who won the race in 1:38.56 over a fast track under jockey Joe Rocco Jr. Our Super Freak, who stalked the pace throughout, took second, and Istan Council was third.

Getridofwhatailesu ($19.20) was the second Oaklawn stakes winner in two days for trainer Brad Cox, who also won the opening day Smarty Jones with Caddo River. Shortly before the Pippin, he won the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1) at Gulfstream Park with 2020 Oaklawn allowance winner Knicks Go

Cox's other Pippin starter, 5-2 favorite Vault, dwelt at the start and was pulled up after a quarter-mile. She walked off the track.

Getridofwhatailesu, a 5-year-old Ghostzapper  mare, improved her record to four wins from seven starts and has now earned $259,197.

Bred in Kentucky by Calumet Farm out of the stakes-winning A.P. Indy mare Autobahn Girl, Getridofwhatailesu was purchased for $160,000 by The Elkstone Group out of Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services' consignment to The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale in New York, in 2017. Autobahn Girl's only reported foal since Getridofwhatailesu is Baedari Kingdom, an unraced 3-year-old Animal Kingdom filly foaled in Korea.

Silver State Takes Fifth Season
Two races earlier, Winchell Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton Racing's Silver State  became a stakes winner in his 4-year-old debut when he edged pacesetter Hunka Burning Love by a nose to win the $150,000 Fifth Season Stakes.

Silver State ($3.80), ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr., was the last out of the gate and was unhurried early as Hunka Burning Love led through early fractions of :23.70 and :47.68. The winner caught up to the front runner entering the stretch and wore him down late for the victory in 1:37.77 for one mile over a fast track. Night Ops was third.

Silver State is trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen, who one race later won his 700th race at Oaklawn. The Hard Spun  colt has won four of eight career starts and has earned $330,094. Last fall he twice won races in Kentucky.

Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings bred Silver State in Kentucky out of the stakes-winning Empire Maker mare Supreme. He is the fourth winner from as many starters from his dam, who has since produced a 2-year-old Candy Ride  colt and a yearling Uncle Mo  colt.

Winchell Thoroughbreds paid $450,000 for Silver State at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, where he was consigned by Eaton Sales, agent for Stonestreet Bred and Raised.
