Campanelle Scratched from Season Debut at Keeneland

Stonestreet Stables' group 1 winner Campanelle (IRE) has been scratched from the $100,000 TVG Limestone Turf Sprint April 9 at Keeneland. The 3-year-old Kodiac (GB) filly trained by Wesley Ward "wasn't quite herself this morning," Stonestreet announced Friday via Twitter, adding, "We've scratched out of today's Limestone Sprint and she'll have a thorough veterinary exam. Her target remains Royal Ascot." Campanelle was to make her season debut in the Limestone, after wrapping her 2-year-old campaign with a fourth in the Nov. 6 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) at Keeneland. She reeled off three wins prior, capped by a victory in the 2020 Darley Prix Morny (G1) at Deauville after taking the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) at Royal Ascot off her debut maiden score at Gulfstream Park. Bred in Ireland by Tally Ho Stud out of the Namid mare Janina, Campanelle was a $243,774 purchase by agent Ben McElroy from Book 1 of the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
