Bivouac will start his career at stud a "happy and sound" horse after Godolphin confirmed the retirement of the three-time group 1 winner, who shared the top rating among sprinters in the final 2020 Longines World’s Best Racehorse rankings.
A winner of seven of his 22 starts, the son of Darley's Exceed And Excel amassed AU$5.6 million (US$3,964,963) in prize money, with his elite-level victories coming in the De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Stakes (G1) of 2019, and in the Seppelt Wines Newmarket Handicap (G1) and Darley Sprint Classic Victoria Racing Club Stakes (G1) the following year.
In addition, Bivouac placed second in the Coolmore Stud Ascot Vale Stakes (G1) and third in the Keogh Homes William Reid Stakes (G1).
"He's telling us that he's now ready to head off to stud," said his trainer James Cummings.
"Everything that he achieved is the hallmark of an absolute superstar, and I think he's capable of following in the footsteps of Exceed And Excel himself. He was his best son on the racetrack, and hopefully, he will become his best son at stud."
Bivouac will be one of four new stallions joining Darley's Australian roster for 2021, along with the European trio Ghaiyyath, Pinatubo, and Earthlight.
Bivouac was bred in Australia by Godolphin out of the More Than Ready mare Dazzler who has also produced stakes winner Coruscate, a full brother to Bivouac.
