Mohaymen Gets First Winner in Whistlewhileyoumow

Freshman sire Mohaymen was represented by his first winner May 31 when Whistlewhileyoumow put in a game performance at first asking to dead heat for the victory in a $30,500 maiden special weight at Prairie Meadows. The 2-year-old gelding led early through fractions of :22.67 and :46.77 under Elvin Gonzalez in the 4 1/2-furlong sprint, was headed on the turn by the gutsy filly Alia Max, and surged back to equal that rival on the line. The final time was :53.62 on a fast track. Trained by Jon Arnett for NBS Stable and bred in Kentucky by Clearsky Farms out of the Mutakddim mare Ever Nice (ARG), Whistlewhileyoumow was a $37,000 purchase by John Ballantyne/NBS Stable from Blas Perez Stables' consignment to the Ocala Breeders' Sales March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. He also went through the ring at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, where Blas Perez bought him for $10,000 from Taylor Made Sales Agency. Campaigned by Shadwell Stable and Kiaran McLaughlin to four grade 2 victories topped by the 2016 Xpressbet Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2), Mohaymen was also bred by Clearsky out of the Dixie Union mare Justwhistledixie, herself a multiple grade 2 winner. Justwhistledixie is also the dam of grade 1 winner New Year's Day and grade 3 winners Kingly and Enforceable. Mohaymen, a son of Tapit, stands at Shadwell Farm. His advertised fee in 2021 was $7,500.
