Letruska Added to Fleur de Lis Probables

Multiple grade 1 winner Letruska has been added to the list of probables for the $300,000 Fleur de Lis Stakes (G2) June 26 at Churchill Downs, according to the track's assistant racing secretary and stakes coordinator Dan Bork. Letruska is a St. George Stables homebred trained by Fausto Gutierrez. She has won three of four starts this season, the last two of which resulted in grade 1 victories. The 5-year-old Super Saver mare upset Monomoy Girl in the Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) April 17 at Oaklawn Park, then bested Bonny South and Shedaresthedevil—who beat Letruska in the Azeri Stakes (G2) March 13 at Oaklawn—in the Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1) June 5 at Belmont Park. The Ogden Phipps victory gave Letruska a berth in the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) Nov. 6 at Del Mar. The Fleur de Lis, also part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series, will have a berth in the same World Championships race up for grabs. Brad Cox trains Monomoy Girl, Bonny South, and Shedaresthedevil. He has May 2 Ruffian Stakes (G2) winner Vault probable for the Fleur de Lis. Letruska has yet to race at Churchill Downs, but has won graded stakes at five different tracks in North America, as well as at Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico, where she was crowned champion 3-year-old filly in 2019.
