Mike Recio Hospitalized, GoFundMe Set Up for Family

Friends and family are rallying in support of consignor Mike Recio, co-founder of South Point Sales Agency, who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington July 24 to combat sepsis and its associated complications. A GoFundMe account has been organized by family friend John David Christman, and a trust has been set up by Stoll Keenon Ogden to help assist the Recio Family. Donations are also being accepted via Venmo @Recio_Family_Support_Trust. Funds will be instrumental in helping Mike's wife, Nancy, and his 4-year-old twins, Addison and Wesley, through this challenging time. Recio, who founded South Point Sales with Arika Everatt-Meeuse in 2014, is a legendary stalwart on the Thoroughbred sales scene. "Mike 'Soup' Recio is known for many things, but perhaps his most enduring trait is the unfailing generosity and love that he shows to all of those around him," Christman wrote on GoFundMe. "As Mike fights for his life in the ICU, the outpouring of love and support for Nancy, Addison, and Wesley has been nothing short of amazing. It is with heavy hearts that we—the recipients of Mike's kindness and friendship—must now show our own generosity. Please join us in raising funds that will be instrumental in seeing the Recios through this tough time." South Point Sales will continue its consignments to the upcoming yearling sales, with a draft of eight set for The Saratoga Sale Aug. 9-10 and 11 consigned to the New York-Bred Yearlings Sale Aug. 15-16.
