Wildcat Red Represented by First Winner

Buck Pond Farm stallion Wildcat Red was represented by his first winner Sept. 13, when Wildcat Bill took a $31,500 maiden special weight at Thistledown. Racing for Richard Spicer and D. William Spitler, the 2-year-old Ohio-bred gelding stalked the pace into the stretch of the 5 1/2-furlong race for state-bred juveniles, dug in late three wide under left-handed urging, and got up in time to earn the victory by 1 1/4 lengths. With jockey Luis Rivera in the irons for trainer Jeffrey Radosevich, Wildcat Bill was favored in a nine-horse field and returned $4.20 on a $2 win ticket. The final time was 1:07 on a fast track. Wildcat Bill was bred by Maccabee Farm out of the Quiet American mare Polite Company and was a $26,000 purchase by Spitler from Stallion Ventures' consignment to the 2020 Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners Fall Mixed Sale. He was making his fifth start in Monday's affair, coming off a runner-up finish Aug. 30 in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Thistledown. The multiple graded stakes-winning, grade 1-placed Wildcat Red, a son of D'wildcat out of the Miner's Mark mare Racene, earned $1.1 million during a 22-race career. He entered stud in 2018 and stood the 2021 season at Buck Pond for an advertised fee of $7,500 live foal.
