Turkish Jockey Club Adds Epaulette and Tilsit to Roster

In addition to the recent acquisition of group 2 winner Battleground, the Jockey Club of Turkey has purchased two other stallions—Australian group 1 winner Epaulette (AUS) and group 2 winner and Juddmonte Farms' homebred Tilsit. Epaulette was purchased from Darley Australia and will stand in Turkey starting with the 2022 breeding season. The 12-year-old son of Commands has been shuttling between Europe and Australia since 2014. He has sired 15 black-type winners so far, which include 10 grade/group winners. Epaulette was runner-up in the 2012 Spotless Todman Slipper Trial (G2) and won the De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Stakes (G1) at 2 that year and the Carlton Mid Doomben 10,000 Stakes (G1) at 3. He is a half brother to three group winners, who include multiple group 1 winner and sire Helmet (AUS). Tilsit is a 4-year-old son of First Defence out of the Dansili mare Multilingual, who is a half sister to European highweight, multiple group 1 winner, and sire Kingman (GB). His second dam, Zenda, won the 2002 French One Thousand Guineas (G1) and has produced two other group level performers. Tilsit has won three times and placed twice from eight career starts and has earned $234,843. He raced this year in France and Saudi Arabia. The Jockey Club of Turkey has acquired seven stallions over the past two years, including Daredevil, who stood in Turkey for one year and is now standing back in the U.S. as a joint venture with Lane's End.
