Multiple Graded Stakes Winner United Retired

In addition to their May 15 statement announcing the move of their operation's focus to the East Coast, LNJ Foxwoods announced the retirement of the multimillionaire United. "United, a seven-time graded-stakes winner and runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Turf, has [provided] so many thrills over the years," the release stated. "He will remain a part of the LNJ family and is being retired as our riding horse in Kentucky, where we hope he will enjoy his second career just as much as his first." Bred in Kentucky by Rosemont Farm, United went through the sales ring twice, first going to Glencrest Farm for $240,000 from the Trackside Farm consignment at the 2015 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. He was sold again at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton New York Saratoga Select Yearling Sale for $300,000 to Solis/Litt Bloodstock from the Four Star Sales Consignment. Under the ownership of LNJ, the 7-year-old son of Giant's Causeway was a turf route specialist, capturing 10 of 22 career starts and bankrolling $1,813,549. Among United's victories were two runnings of both the Eddie Read Stakes (G2T) and John Henry Turf Championship Stakes (G2T) in addition to the San Marcos Stakes (G2T) and San Luis Rey Stakes (G3T). The gallant late-running gelding was also the runner-up by head in the 2019 Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) to Horse of the Year Bricks and Mortar.
