Foley Signs for $350K Oscar Performance Filly

Long active in New York racing, Blue Chip Farm's Tom Grossman and Lisa DeAngelis made their first significant yearling Thoroughbred purchase Aug. 14 when they went to $350,000 for an Oscar Performance filly during the opening session of the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearlings Sale Oracle Bloodstock's Conor Foley signed the ticket on the filly, consigned as Hip 392, on behalf of a partnership that includes Blue Chip Bloodstock, West Paces, Flying Partners, and Oracle Bloodstock. "She probably had the best pedigree and maybe the best physical in the sale," said Foley. "I thought she was exceptional. We couldn't find anything wrong with her. When they walk and act like that and have a pedigree like that, it gives you a lot of confidence." Bred and consigned by Thorndale Farm, the filly is out of Reachfortheheavens, a daughter of Pulpit purchased by Thorndale for $100,000 out of the 2018 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale from Ramsey Farm. Reachfortheheavens produced millionaire multiple grade 1 winner Real Solution and graded stakes-placed Ava's Kitten. "We want to play on the high end, and she sold for just about what we thought she would," said Grossman. "I think she's worth three-quarters of (her sale price) if she was a gelding. We're thrilled. "We're New York breeders, and we understand the program's value. We love the program, we love the filly, and we love the team. We're very excited."
