The Critical Way Looks to Repeat in Parx Dash Stakes

The Critical Way returns to Parx Racing Aug. 23, setting his sights on becoming the third horse to win the Parx Dash Stakes multiple times. The $200,000, five-furlong turf race for 3-year-olds and older was claimed last year by the Tizway gelding by a nose over Battle Station. Owned by Monster Racing Stables and trained by Jose Delgado, The Critical Way comes in trying to recapture the success he enjoyed last year when he won the Wolf Hill Stakes at Monmouth Park ahead of winning at Parx. But after that, he was pulled up and vanned off in a December allowance optional claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs. His return to racing in the May 22 Get Serious Stakes proved victorious, but he followed that with a fourth and a fifth in Monmouth stakes earlier this summer. Back on the track where he's had success—two wins and a fourth—The Critical Way could join Pure Sensation and Ben's Cat, both three-time victors in the Parx Dash Stakes, as repeat winners in the race. Other contenders include New York-bred Scuttlebuzz, who will be making his Parx debut. He has finished off the board in back-to-back graded stakes races in New York. Also in the field are Justwaveandsmile, Call Wil, War Tocsin, Midtowncharlybrown, Runningwscissors, and The Connector. Violent Turbulence, Doc Amster, and Extreme Force were main track only entrants.
