Laminitis Claims New York Stallion Majestic City
Bloom Racing Stable and Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions reported Nov. 11 the death of multiple graded stakes winner and New York stallion Majestic City. He was euthanized Nov. 8 due to worsening complications of laminitis. A chestnut 13-year-old City Zip horse out of the Meadowlake mare It'schemistrybaby, Majestic City notched four stakes wins over his career, highlighted by scores in the 2011 Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes (G3) and the 2015 Lone Star Park Handicap (G3). He won five of 30 races overall and $582,960. He began his stud career in New York in 2016 and is the sire of four crops to race with progeny earnings of over $2 million. He has three more crops to race. "Majestic City will be sorely missed by myself and the entire IHDV team," Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions stallion manager Bill Leak said. "He was a horse you could measure others against and only hope they can come close to his quality." "Majestic City was my first purchase and the foundation of Bloom Racing Stable," added Jeff Bloom, who campaigned Majestic City. "He had a larger-than-life personality and will be forever missed. He provided us with so many wonderful experiences throughout his career, and I am thrilled that we still get to see his progeny on the racetrack carry so many of his fabulous characteristics."
