Fire At Will Sires First Reported Foal in New York

Sequel Stallions New York's grade 1 winner Fire At Will sired his first reported foal Jan. 30 when the Practical Joke mare Marital Joy produced a colt for her first foal. The colt was born at Fort Christopher's Thoroughbreds for breeder Horse Haven Racing. Marital Joy is out of the Broken Vow mare Altar Issues, who is a half sister to grade 2-placed stakes winner Motion Emotion (Take Charge Indy). The immediate family also has produced 2010 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) winner Shared Account, dam of 2019 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) winner Sharing. "The colt has a lot of scope to him. He has a good hind end, like his sire, and is overall very well-balanced," said Becky Thomas, with Sequel New York. "This is exactly what we were hoping to see out of the first crop for Fire At Will." Fire At Will is a 6-year-old son of Declaration of War out of the Kitten's Joy daughter Flirt. Racing for Three Diamonds Farm, Fire At Will broke his maiden in a stakes, taking the With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in his second career start with trainer Mike Maker. His next two starts yielded victories in the Pilgrim Stakes (G2T) at Belmont Park and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) at Keeneland. He was retired with a 3-0-1 record from six starts and earned $675,932. Fire At Will stands at Sequel for $5,000.
