Our Pretty Woman, Webslinger Find Mark at Churchill

Rebounding from an 11th-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), Courtlandt Farms' Our Pretty Woman fended off a stretch bid from graded stakes winner Intricate to win the $173,700 Monomoy Girl Overnight Stakes by three-quarters of a length June 15 at Churchill Downs. The victory, her third in five starts, was her first at the stakes level. Earlier this spring, she placed in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2), which earned her a berth in the May 3 Kentucky Oaks for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. Beaten more than 31 lengths in the Oaks over a sloppy track, Our Pretty Woman was much more comfortable over a fast surface against lesser company in Saturday's race. Coming from just off the pace, she took command in the stretch and completed 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.07 under Luis Saez. The 3-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, a $900,000 purchase at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, paid $4.02 to win as the favorite. Band of Gold showed. About an hour later on the Saturday evening program, another grade 1 class dropper, D. J. Stable's Webslinger, triumphed in the Chorleywood Overnight Stakes in his first start in a three-turn turf contest. The 4-year-old Constitution gelding rallied from behind fast early fractions to take the lead in the final sixteenth of a mile under Jose Ortiz. The Mark Casse trainee was timed in 2:14.58 on firm ground and returned $4.98 to win. Fellow graded stakes winners Sugoi and Bold Act (IRE) finished second and third, respectively.
