Roxton First Winner for Taylor Made Stallions' Rowayton

Roxton became the first winner for freshman sire Rowayton in scoring a 3 3/4-length debut victory against Pennsylvania-bred maidens July 9 at Parx Racing. Dueling for the early lead over the opening quarter-mile, Roxton took command midway in the race, opened up a five-length advantage in midstretch, and completed 4 1/2 furlongs on a fast main track in :54.52 under Silvestre Gonzalez. He earned $24,000 in Tuesday's $41,200 race and returned $19.20 to his win backers. A bay gelding out of the Henrythenavigator mare Queen of Races, Roxton is co-owned by breeder Equivine Farm, Louis Bisso Jr., and Richard Vega Racing Stable. Richard Vega trains. Rowayton is an 8-year-old son of Into Mischief. A debut winner in 2018 at age 2 at Del Mar, he chased champion 2-year-old male Game Winner when second to him there in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) and when third behind him in the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park. The next year as a 3-year-old, Rowayton's season highlights included winning an allowance at Belmont Park with 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:14.94 and earning an additional stakes placing when third in the Dwyer Stakes (G3). He was also fourth in a blanket four-horse finish in the 2019 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course. Rowayton was retired after going unplaced in one start at age 4 with a 2-1-2 record in nine starts and earnings of $252,130. He stands for $7,500 at Taylor Made Stallions in Central Kentucky.
