Imperial Hint Gets First Winner at Louisiana Downs

Clear Creek Stud's multiple grade 1 winner and freshman sire Imperial Hint scored his first winner July 22 when his son Tdz Hint of Power won his racing debut at Louisiana Downs by 4 3/4 lengths. Tdz Hint of Power is a Louisiana homebred for Tony Doughtie and trained by Kent Knudsen. The colt won in gate-to-wire fashion going five furlongs in :57.50, less than a second off the track record of :56.90 set in 2002. Imperial Hint is a 9-year-old son of Imperialism who won consecutive editions of the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and Vosburgh Stakes (G1) in 2018-19. He also placed twice in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) and was third in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) on his way to earning more than $2.2 million while racing from 3 to 7. Imperial Hint stood for $3,000 this year. Doughtie also bred his first-out winner's dam, Tdz Mandycorrienda, an unraced daughter of El Corredor. Tdz Mandycorrienda didn't make an impact at the racetrack, but she has produced stakes winner Tdzshiningstar (Star Guitar) and one other winner besides Tdz Hint of Power. Tdz Mandycorrienda is out of the stakes-placed winner Hi Mandy, a daughter of Tower of Power. Doughtie bred three foals out of Hi Mandy, whom he acquired privately. Tdz Mandycorrienda produced a full brother to Tdz Hint of Power Jan. 15.
