NYRA Cancels Aug. 9 Card; Moves Two Grade 1 Races

The New York Racing Association announced Aug. 8 that the 10-race card scheduled for Aug. 9 at Saratoga Race Course has been canceled due to heavy rainfall and high winds associated with Tropical Storm Debby forecast to impact region overnight and throughout the day Friday. Friday's featured $125,000 Evan Shipman and $125,000 Union Avenue handicaps will be rescheduled. The Fourstardave Handicap (G1T) and Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) which were scheduled for Aug. 10 will now be held as the final two races Aug. 11. Saratoga Race Course will be closed to the public Friday and breakfast and track tours will not be offered. Fans in possession of Friday tickets are entitled to either a full refund or credit for a future purchase, and will be contacted directly by the NYRA sales office. Tickets purchased via third-party sites are not eligible for a refund from NYRA and customers must directly contact the third-party vendor for assistance. Live racing is slated to resume Aug. 10 at Saratoga with first post at 12:35 p.m.
