Curlin's Honor's First Winner Arises in R Morning Brew

Pleasant Acres Stallions' freshman sire Curlin's Honor sired his first winner Aug. 9 when his daughter R Morning Brew won her racing debut on a sloppy sealed track by 4 1/2 lengths at Gulfstream Park. Dori Morgan Hyatt bred the first-out winner in Florida out of the Uncaptured mare Foolhearted Woman, who has already produced multiple graded-placed stakes winner Dancing N Dixie (Neolithic). The immediate family also has produced Angelofdistinction, who won the 2011 Inaugural Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and was third in the 2012 Carry Back Stakes (G3). Rivera Training and Sales sold R Morning Brew for $30,000 during the Ocala Breeders' Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale to Averill Racing. The filly is now trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. and earned $29,000 for her win. Curlin's Honor, a 9-year-old son of prominent sire Curlin, is a multiple graded-placed stakes winner, who was competitive on dirt, all-weather, and turf surfaces. He won his racing debut on Keeneland's main track at 2 and then at 3 won the 2018 Woodstock Stakes on Woodbine's all-weather track. He later captured the 2019 Artie Schiller Stakes on the grass at Aqueduct Racetrack. He also was runner-up in the King Edward Stakes (G2T) and Ontario Derby (G3), and was third in four other graded stakes. He retired with a 5-3-4 record from 17 starts and earned $356,545. Curlin's Honor stood this year for $2,500.
