Tdz Hint of Power Gives Imperial Hint First Stakes Win

Just more than a month after becoming the first winner for freshman sire Imperial Hint, Tdz Hint of Power also became the multiple grade 1 winner's first stakes winner in the $75,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Stakes at Louisiana Downs Aug. 31. The win was as dominant as could be. Bet down from a 10-1 morning line to pay $4 for his victory, Tdz Hint of Power took the lead early and never looked back under jockey Casey Fusilier, lengthening his lead at every call before completing the 5 1/2 furlongs 10 3/4 lengths clear of the nearest competitor while stopping the clock in 1:04.37. Trained by Nason Eschete, the 2-year-old colt is 2-for-2, earning $59,400. He was bred in Louisiana by his owner, Tony Doughtie, who also bred the dam Tdz Mandycorrienda. Tdz Hint of Power is a half to multiple stakes winner Tdzshininluckystar. Bred in Florida by Shade Tree Thoroughbreds, Imperial Hint was 14-for-25 in a career that earned more than $2.2 million for owner Raymond Mamone and trainer Luis Carvajal Jr. A son of Imperialism, Imperial Hint won four grade 1 races, with victories in 2018 and 2019 runnings of both the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and Vosburgh Stakes (G1). He also placed twice in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1). Imperial Hint stood the 2024 season at Clear Creek Stud in Louisiana for a $3,000 fee.
