Curlin Gets Third Seven-Figure Yearling With $1.4M Colt

Hill 'n' Dale Farm's prominent sire Curlin was represented by four seven-figure yearlings during Day 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Bradley Thoroughbreds bought the colt consigned as Hip 284 for $1.4 million colt for a new owner to the racing game. Lane's End sold Hip 284 on behalf of his breeder Blue Heaven Farm, who bred the colt out of the grade 2-placed winner Virginia Key (Distorted Humor). "If I was smart, I wouldn't buy horses like this—no, I would buy horses like this," said Peter Bradley of Bradley Thoroughbreds. "I mean class, sire power, comes from a very good breeder. It's what we look for here, and you have to stretch for those. I wish I had something other than clichés to tell you right now, but this horse was world class from the minute I saw him down in the Lane's End barn." Bradley purchased the colt on behalf of undisclosed clients. Bradley signed the ticket on two other yearlings during Book 1 of the Keeneland September Sale. He added Hip 267, a colt named Synchronicity, by Not This Time out Tizanillusion for $400,000 from the Warrendale Sales consignment, and Hip 198, a $350,000 Quality Road colt out of Saracosa from Mill Ridge Sales' consignment, to his roster. "This is for a new player in the game, someone who's bought a couple of horses; I think we're gonna have some fun. It is nice to have new people who want to do it the right way. He knows the risks, and hopefully we will reap the rewards," said Bradley.
