Goliath to Run in Germany Next; Dam to Sell With Goffs
On the same day it was confirmed in the German media that Goliath (GER) will contest the Preis von Europa (G1) at Cologne later this month, with the Japan Cup (G1) as his end-of-season target, Goffs announced the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) hero's dam Gouache (GER) will be offered at the company's November Breeding Stock Sale. Gouache, a 12-year-old daughter of Shamardal, is in foal to Baaeed (GB) and will be consigned by Millennium Stud at the sale, which is scheduled for Nov. 22-23. "Goliath's stunning victory in the group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes was one of the performances of the season and the world is his oyster in terms of what comes next," said Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby. "It's an honor for Goffs to be chosen to sell Goliath's dam Gouache, and we're very grateful to her owners for this vote of confidence in our service, which follows a record sale in 2023 when we sold the two highest-priced mares anywhere in the world." American owner John Stewart bought into Goliath last month. By Adlerflug (GER), Goliath is the second foal out of Gouache, who won the 2016 listed Hoppegartener Stutenpreis for owner/breeder Gestut Schlenderhan. At last December's Arqana Breeding Stock Sale, Gouache was sold in foal to Blackbeard (IRE) by Schlenderhan to Agrolexica International Trading for €200,000. She foaled a filly by the 2022 European champion 2-year-old son of No Nay Never in March.
