Elegant Echo Provides Echo Town First Stakes Winner

Coolmore's grade 1-winning freshman sire Echo Town was represented by his first stakes winner Oct. 18 when Elegant Echo rallied from off the pace to score in the $100,000 Oklahoma Classics Lassie Stakes at Remington Park. Settling off the pace in the six-furlong event, the Oklahoma-bred filly rallied five wide beneath jockey Belen Quinonez to get up for victory by a half-length, stopping the clock in 1:11.98 as the even-money favorite. The victory improved her career record to 2-for-2 with earnings of $80,298 for owner Edward B. Melzer Revocable Trust and trainer Alan Williams. Bred in Oklahoma by Circle Bar H, the 2-year-old filly was most recently sold at the Ocala Breeders' Sales June 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale for $55,000 out of the Gene Recio consignment. Elegant Echo is out of the Violence mare Violation, an eight-time winner in 29 starts also bred by Circle Bar H. Elegant Echo is her first foal. Winning on debut as a 3-year-old at the start of 2020, Echo Town's sophomore season included a victory in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course as well as placings in the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1), Phoenix Stakes (G2), and listed Bachelor Stakes. He completed his career with $410,020 in earnings and a record of 4-2-2 from 10 starts. Echo Town, by champion sprinter and emerging sire of sires Speightstown, stood the 2024 season at Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky. for $5,000 and is also the sire of grade 3-placed Three Echoes.
