Breeders' Cup Horses Headed to Sales Ring
The Breeders' Cup World Championships were held Nov. 1-2 at Del Mar featuring horses from all over the world competing in America's most lucrative races. Five of those runners are headed to the sales ring at Fasig-Tipton's November Sale Nov. 4 in Lexington. Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) winner Moira will sell Monday night as Hip 293, consigned as a racing or broodmare prospect by Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa, agent. The 5-year-old Ghostzapper mare was bred in Ontario by Adena Springs. Moira boasts an impressive resume, winning seven races from 17 starts, with a bankroll of $2,996,017. She has won or placed in 11 graded stakes races over her three-year career for trainer Kevin Attard. She ran third in last year's edition of the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and earned two Sovereign Awards in 2022 for Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old filly. Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa will also offer War Like Goddess as a racing or broodmare prospect; she is cataloged as Hip 210. The 7-year-old daughter of English Channel is coming off a fifth-place finish behind Moira in the Filly & Mare Turf. The Bill Mott trainee has earnings in excess of $3 million and has hit the board in 19 of her 23 starts, with all but two coming in graded stakes company. In 2021, she finished third in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and, in 2022, she duplicated that effort against males when she ran third in the Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) at Keeneland to Rebel's Romance (IRE), who also won this year's edition of the race. War Like Goddess is a ten-time graded stakes winner and the first horse to win consecutive runnings of the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1T) since her sire English Channel. She was bred in Kentucky by Calumet Farm. Full Count Felicia finished seventh behind the aforementioned horses in the Filly & Mare Turf after coming off a win in the E.P. Taylor Stakes (G1T) Sept. 14 at Woodbine for Attard. The 5-year-old War Front mare has three graded stakes wins, and a total of seven wins from 19 starts with earnings totaling $776,354. She was bred in Kentucky by Joseph Allen and is owned by Gold Square. Greenfield Farms will consign the racing or broodmare prospect as Hip 260. The multiple graded stakes winning Honor D Lady will sell as Hip 266 with Indian Creek, agent, as a racing or broodmare prospect after finishing seventh to Thorpedo Anna in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. The daughter of Honor Code has been on the board 11 times in 15 starts and has career earnings of $745,942. She was bred in Kentucky by William Harrigan & Mike Pietrangelo and is out of the multiple graded stakes-producing Blame mare Complicated. Grade 1 winner Chili Flag (FR), who finished seventh against the boys in the Breeders Cup Mile (G1T), will also be on offer as a racing or broodmare prospect by ELiTE, agent. The daughter of Cityscape (GB) will go through the ring as Hip 235. The Chad Brown trainee hit the board in 15 of her 22 starts and earned $1,146,627 in her career so far. Before the Breeders' Cup she ran second in the First Lady Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland to stablemate Gina Romantica on Oct. 5. She is owned by Madaket Stables, Michael Dubb and Michael E. Kisber. Anisette to Sell in Book 1 of Keeneland November Sale Multiple grade 1 winner Anisette (GB) will head to the ring as Hip 229 with Bluewater Sales, agent, during Book 1 of Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale. She was bred by Morera Partnership in England and will be offered as a racing or broodmare prospect.
