Three Chimneys Sets Gun Pilot, Newgate 2025 Fees
Three Chimneys Farm has set the 2025 fees for the newest additions to its stallion roster, grade 1 winners Gun Pilot and Newgate. Gun Pilot, a 4-year-old Three Chimneys homebred by the farm's top sire Gun Runner, will enter stud next year with an advertised fee of $17,500, while Newgate, a 4-year-old son of multiple leading sire Into Mischief, will start his stud career with an advertised fee of $20,000. Both fees carry live foal stands and nurses guarantees. A five-time stakes performer, Gun Pilot's crowning achievement came this year at Churchill Downs on the May 4 Kentucky Derby (G1) undercard where he drew off to win the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) by 2 1/2 lengths, through a half in :44.87 and a final time of 1:21.95 for the seven furlongs. He went on to a runner-up finish in the Forego Stakes (G1) before a good fourth in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1), despite jockey Cristian Torres losing his crop in the stretch. Gun Pilot retires with $1,217,575 in earnings, putting him among the 13 millionaires and 10 grade 1 winners sired by Gun Runner. Newgate won this year's Santa Anita Handicap (G1) over grade 1 winners Highland Falls, Mixto, and Subsanador (ARG). During his career, he defeated eight grade 1 winners and retires with $1,005,775 in earnings. He is a full brother to grade 2 winner Denim and Pearls who sold during Fasig Tipton's The November Sale for $2.8 million.
