Tatts, Inglis Sale Offers Mares In Foal to Too Darn Hot
A trio of mares will be offered in foal to Darley's sire sensation Too Darn Hot (GB) with covers on Southern Hemisphere time in the highly anticipated collaboration between Tattersalls Online and Inglis Digital. The Southern Hemisphere Session is scheduled to take place on Tattersalls Online Dec. 11-12, and is led by dual group 3-placed Galileo mare Know Thyself (IRE). A two-time winner, the mare was group- and listed-placed on four occasions, including when runner-up in the 2022 Prix Vanteaux (G3) behind subsequent group 1 star Mqse De Sevigne (IRE). Know Thyself is out of the three-time group 2 winner Fix (NZ), a daughter of Iffraaj who was also placed in the 2012 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas (G1) and 2013 New Zealand Derby (G1). Another mare sure to attract plenty of attention is the group 2-placed Sedaka (NZ), a lightly raced winning daughter of New Zealand's nine-time leading sire Savabeel. Consigned by Watership Down Stud, she is out of a winning half sister to multiple listed winner Odeon and hails from the family of group 1-winning sprinters Brando (NZ) and Reckless Abandon (GB). The trio of lots are rounded out by 3-year-old Zoustar (AUS) filly Crimson Coronet, who is out of the listed-winning mare Crimson Rosette (IRE), herself a half sister to group 1-winning stayer Courage Mon Ami (GB). "Too Darn Hot has made an extraordinary start to his career at stud, particularly in Australia and given he is covering a limited book to Southern Hemisphere time, opportunities to acquire a mare in foal to him are very scarce," Tattersalls Online sales manager Katherine Sheridan said. "He has 11 black-type horses from his first Australian crop already and they are still just spring 3-year-olds, so it's exciting to think where things might progress to with him over the next 12 to 24 months." Entries for the Southern Hemisphere Session of the Tattersalls Online December Sale are by application until Nov. 22. Further details regarding the sale will be made available over the coming weeks.
