Tizzy in the Sky Takes Go for Wand for First Graded Win
KimDon Racing's Tizzy in the Sky continued her proficiency over the racing surface at Aqueduct Racetrack by capturing the $200,000 Go for Wand Stakes (G3) Dec. 7 under hot-riding Flavien Prat. The 5-year-old mare improved to 5-2-0 in eight starts on its dirt track, compared to 0-2-0 in five starts over other dirt courses. Second in the 2023 Go for Wand, she notched the first graded stakes win of her 13-race career. Prat had his mount well positioned early in the Go for Wand by placing her in second, chasing longshot leader Rachel's Rock. He then went after her on the turn of the mile race, and Tizzy in the Sky took over in early stretch and repelled challenges from runner-up Occult and third Movie Moxy down the lane to prevail by a half-length. The winner was timed on a fast track in 1:35.64, paying $8.20 for a $2 wager. Stakes victories from Tizzy in the Sky and Poster in Saturday's Remsen Stakes (G2) gave Prat 80 stakes wins this year—surpassing a record of 79 stakes victories set by jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. in 2022. Tizzy in the Sky, a daughter of Sky Kingdom bred in Kentucky by Westrock Stables, is out of the Tiznow mare Tiz the Tide. "She loves it here," said Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. I think she is even better around two turns here, but she overcame some pace pressure today and finished up well."
