Jason Clark, who spent most of his professional life working at horse farms, died Dec. 6. Clark, a native of Lexington, living in Poughquag, N.Y., was 47.

Clark had a lifelong passion for the horse industry, working at Highclere, Ashford Stud, and Wimbledon Farm, but making his life's work at Sugar Maple Farm in Poughquag.

He began his career by gaining the knowledge he needed by working side by side with his grandfather Tiny Clark. The family recalled how Jason Clark would, "stand at the end of the driveway in his big cowboy hat waiting for Tiny to pick him up to head to the horse sales when he was only 16 years old." Jason Clark would work at horse farms in Kentucky, New York, Ireland, and New Zealand.

Admired by many in the Thoroughbred industry, the family noted that recently a veterinarian told Clark, "You bandaged that horse's leg better than I could have."

He is survived by his parents; Cheryl J. Clark (Georgetown, Ky.), and Ralph D. Clark (Lexington); siblings Todd (Kristin) Clark of Lexington, Christy Sechrest (Jon Scott) of Versailles, Ky., Beth (Gene) Walker of Georgetown, Justin Clark of Georgetown, and Kelli Clark of Lexington.

Private graveside services have been held.

Memorial Donations are suggested to Old Friends Inc. Thoroughbred Retirement, 841 Paynes Depot Road, Georgetown, Ky. 40324. Friends and family are encouraged to share their condolences and memories on Jason's Tribute Wall at www.TuckerYocumWilson.com.
