Mullion, Full Brother to Mandaloun, Sires First Foal

Mullion, a full brother to 2021 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner, Mandaloun, has sired his first foal. The filly is out of the Speightstown mare Maggiore. Juddmonte-bred Maggiore is a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Bonny South and graded stakes-placed Sun Path. Her first foal, a bay filly by Mullion, was bred by Albaugh Family Stables. Mullion is by six-time leading stallion Into Mischief and out of the multiple group-winning Empire Maker mare, Brooch. Mullion stands at Sequel New York near Hudson, N.Y., in partnership with his breeder, Juddmonte Farm. He will stand the upcoming breeding season for a private fee. Trained by Brad Cox, the same conditioner of his grade 1-winning full brother, Mullion performed gallantly on debut at Ellis Park when defeated just a nose traveling six furlongs against a field that included eventual grade 3 winner and two-time grade 1-placed Pyrenees. Contesting a one-turn mile at Churchill Downs, Mullion broke his maiden at second asking by a dominating 10 lengths. The performance garnered national recognition, a 95 Equibase Speed Figure, and an impressive 4- Ragozin Figure. His full brother, Mandaloun, was a two-time grade 1 winner; taking both the Derby and Haskell Stakes (G1) in 2021. In addition, he won the Risen Star Stakes (G2) and Pegasus Stakes at 3 and the Louisiana Stakes (G3) at 4. Mandaloun retired with over $3.3 million in earnings.
