Champion Elite Power's First Foal Born in Kentucky
The first reported foal for Juddmonte Farms' two-time Eclipse Award-winning sprinter Elite Power was born Jan. 16 at Norevale Farm near Lexington. With nearly identical markings as his sire, the chestnut colt is out of the Emcee mare Havin' a Party, a daughter of graded stakes winner Chimichurri. The dam's first foal to race, the Constitution filly Woodhull, was a maiden special weight winner at Lone Star Park last summer for trainer Steve Asmussen. Woodhull sold for $575,000 to Spendthrift Farm at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Havin' a Party is a half sibling to stakes-producing mares Loving Vindication (Vindication), the dam of 2018 Canadian Horse of the Year and Queen's Plate Stakes winner Wonder Gadot as well as grade 1 winner Hard Not to Love; Chimayo (A.P. Indy), the dam of grade 1 winner Secret Spice; and Claire's Song (Unbridled's Song), the dam of stakes winners Elusive Mischief and Mo Clare's. "The farm reported to be extremely pleased with the foal. The foal's dam is indicative of the exceptional caliber of mare we have been able to attract to Elite Power's book," said Garrett O'Rourke, general manager of Juddmonte USA. Elite Power, a son of top sire Curlin and an earner of more than $3.7 million in his racing career, will stand the 2025 breeding season at Juddmonte for a fee of $50,000.
