Dream Concert Tops OBSOnline January Sale at $110,000
Multiple stakes-placed Dream Concert, a 5-year-old mare by Jess's Dream, topped the OBSOnline January Sale Jan. 30, bringing $110,000 from Tiger Racing. The sale featured 2-year-olds and horses of racing age, with bidding beginning Jan. 23 and closing Jan 30. Horses entered in the online sale were able to participate in an optional under tack show Jan. 17 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales track. Dream Concert was consigned by Kathleen O'Connell, agent for owner and breeder James M. Chicklo, who supplemented her to the sale after a third-place finish in the Wayward Lass Stakes Jan. 11 at Tampa Bay Downs. She is out of the stakes-winning Concerto mare Spanish Concert, who has two winners from two to race. An unraced 3-year-old filly by Practical Joke, out of the placed Quality Road mare Happy Road, brought the second-highest price at $46,000. Daniel McGreevy purchased the Wavertree Stables-consigned filly who hails from the family of grade 1 winner and sire Bustin Stones. She breezed a bullet three furlongs in :32 1/5 during the under tack show. Meet Me At Marea, a 3-year-old filly by Thousand Words out of the winning Bernardini mare Rafaelini, sold for $42,000 to Jeff Ganje. She had the co-second-fastest time at the under tack show, going three furlongs in :33. A total of 11 horses sold, from 21 offered, for gross receipts of $265,700, averaging $24,155 with a median of $7,500.
