Ducky Medwick First Winner for Mr. Monomoy
Mr. Monomoy, a graded stakes-winning half brother to multiple champion Monomoy Girl, sired his first winner April 19 at Aqueduct Racetrack, where his son Ducky Medwick won his racing debut by 2 1/4 lengths. Ducky Medwick is a homebred for M. Scott Summers, Daniel Summers, and Chad Summers, who bred the chestnut colt in New York out of the Union Rags daughter Coyote Pretty. The new winner's second dam, El Coyote, is a full sister to grade 1-placed, grade 2 winner Boca Grande (A.P. Indy) and a half sister to grade 3 winner Vacation (Dynaformer). Chad Summers, who trains Ducky Medwick, bought Coyote Pretty for $20,000 at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearling Sale. She never raced but has produced two winners from two to race. Coyote Pretty is also the dam of 4-year-old Follow Your Arrow (Bal a Bali), who is a winner this year and to date has earned $83,325. Ducky Medwick is the mare's latest reported foal. Bred in Kentucky by FPF & Highfield Ranch, Mr. Monomoy became a winner at 2 for Madaket Stables, Michael Dubb, and Doheny Racing Stable. At 3, he won the Risen Star Stakes (G2) after finishing third in the Lecomte Stakes (G3). An injury derailed his racing career. Mr. Monomoy, by Palace Malice, entered stud in 2021 at Waldorf Farm in New York. He was relocated to Pellinor Lane Farm in West Virginia for the 2023 breeding season and stands there for $1,500.
