Raging Bull Sires First Winner in Indiana
Multiple grade 1 winner Raging Bull (FR) recorded his first winner as a sire July 3 when Jutland scored as the 9-5 favorite in a turf maiden special weight at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Trained by Kelsey Danner, Jutland was away awkwardly and trailed the field of eight through opening fractions of :23.42 and :49.64. Revved up past the half-mile marker, the 2-year-old picked off his competition one by one and bid three wide into the lane. Charging hard, Jutland swept to the lead in midstretch and drew off to win his debut by two lengths under jockey Adam Beschizza. Jutland ($5.80) completed the 7 1/2 furlongs in a final time of 1:31.32 over a firm turf course. A Kentucky homebred for NBS Stable, Jutland is the first winner out of the 7-year-old War Front mare Naval Battle. NBS Stable purchased Naval Battle while she was in foal with Jutland for $100,000 at the 2022 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Naval Battle's youngest offspring is a yearling colt by Blame. Jutland is a member of the first crop from his sire Raging Bull. A stellar performer on the turf for trainer Chad Brown, the French-bred son of Dark Angel (IRE) scored top-level victories in the 2018 Hollywood Derby (G1T), 2020 Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T), and 2021 Maker's Mark Mile Stakes (G1T) and bankrolled more than $1.7 million. Upon retirement, Raging Bull joined the stallion roster at Gainesway Farm near Lexington. He stood the 2025 breeding season for a fee of $10,000.
