Lady Iman Adds to Resume With Molecomb Stakes Score

Lady Iman (IRE) earned a starting berth into this year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1T) after her dominating victory in the July 30 Molecomb Stakes (G3) at Goodwood Racecourse. The 2-year-old Starman (GB) filly, owned by Mrs. A. F. O'Callaghan, becomes just the second Irish-trained winner of this race in the last 10 years. Lady Iman, 3-for-4 in her fledgling career, lost her unbeaten record when finishing runner-up in the Airlie Stud Stakes (G2) at The Curragh June 28. The Molecomb was the second group race success for the filly, who previously captured the Irish E.B.F. Blackbeard Fillies Sprint Stakes (G3) in May. "She's always been held in high regard and held very good form," jockey Ryan Moore said of Lady Iman. "She's a very fast filly. She was cantering over them with two furlongs to run and I ended up getting there a bit too early. She's very smart." The Molecomb Stakes is a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series: Win and You're In event for the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar. Trainer Ger Lyons landed the Juvenile Turf Sprint last year with Magnum Force (IRE) and is keen to repeat the trick this year with Lady Iman. "I got such a buzz out of Del Mar last year that I would like to go back with something special," Lyons said. "If I'm allowed, we will go with this filly."
