PTHA Presents Owners, Trainers Appreciation Day
The Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (PTHA) proudly presents 2025 Owners and Trainers Appreciation Day on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Parx Racing. The event showcases one of the most competitive and lucrative racing programs of the summer, featuring 12 races with purses totaling over $650,000, with a First-Post of 12:40pm EST. A total of 163 horses were entered on the card, including 153 in the body of the races—a testament to the depth and strength of the Parx Racing community and their support of this day, which is celebrated and hosted every-year by the PTHA. This will be the first day back to live-racing after the annual Parx Summer-Break. "Parx Racing is excited to be back in full force as we launch our late summer, early fall racing season. We look to build momentum on days like this, as well as the following day, Smarty Jones Day, leading up to the biggest day in racing in Pennsylvania, PA Derby - Cotillion Day." said David Osojnak, Parx Director of Racing. "The horsemen fully supported this day, as evident by the full-fields for 12 dirt-races on the afternoon." Horsemen and women will be treated to a PTHA luncheon on the third floor of the racetrack. A valid Pennsylvania owner's or trainer's license permits entry into the event. Exclusive PTHA gear and merchandise will be given away as part of the day's festivities, celebrating the owners and trainers whose hard work and dedication drive the sport forward, year-round at Parx Racing. The afternoon's highlight is the PTHA President's Sprint, a $75,000 Stake for straight 3-Yr-Olds, drawing a 13 horse field going 6 1/2 furlongs. This premier sprint is scheduled as the 11th of 12 races and promises to be a thrilling feature on a card brimming with competitive fields. "This day is about showcasing our horsemen, the backbone of our industry here at Parx Racing, and throughout the Commonwealth. Enhanced purses and full-fields will set the stage for our return to live-racing." said Jeffrey A. Matty, Jr., Executive Director of the PTHA. "We are excited and proud to put on a high-quality day of racing with strong participation, competitive fields, and a chance to celebrate the people who make racing at Parx possible."
