Stellar Group Assembled for Arqana's October Sale

A half brother to cover star and Prix Jean Prat (G1) victor Woodshauna (FR) is among the yearlings included in the strongest line-up yet for Arqana's October Yearling Sale, which runs Oct. 21-25. The colt by The Grey Gatsby (IRE) is one of 14 yearlings either out of group 1 winners or siblings to winners at the highest level that will be offered on the opening day of the sale Oct. 21. Woodshauna, a first-crop son of Wooded (IRE), was sold to Al Shaqab Racing for €70,000 at the 2023 edition of the sale by Haras de Grandcamp, who consign his half brother on behalf of Haras de Magouet (Lot 211). The bay is joined in the catalog by a Churchill (IRE) three-parts brother to 2018 St Leger (G1) and Grand Prix de Paris (G1) winner and National Hunt sire Kew Gardens (IRE) (35) from the Fairway Consignment. Haras de l'Aumonerie offers half brothers to not one but two classic winners: a Kameko (GB) half brother to 2023 Prix du Jockey Club (G1) victor and Ballylinch Stud sire Look de Vega (FR) (103) and a Wootton Bassett (GB) colt who is half brother to Coeursamba (FR) (112), successful in the 2021 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (G1). Wootton Bassett increased his tally of top-level winners to 16 last Sunday with the success of Sahlan (IRE) in the Prix du Moulin (G1) and La Motteraye consigns (170) a full sister to another of those; the 2021 Prix Marcel Boussac (G1) winner Zellie (FR). Another standout lot and one with enormous breeding potential is Haras de Saint Pair's homebred Frankel (GB) filly (137), the first foal of their 2022 Matron Stakes (G1) winner Pearls Galore. St Mark's Basilica (FR) sired his first group winner at Doncaster on Thursday and La Motteraye's draft includes a second-crop half brother to the classic and multiple group 1 winner Laurens (157). Leading sires including Blue Point (IRE), Camelot (GB), Dark Angel (IRE), Havana Grey (GB), Kingman (GB), Lope de Vega (IRE) and Sea The Stars (IRE) are all represented in the catalog.
