Group 1 Hero White Birch Heads Tattersalls Autumn Sale
Group 1 winner White Birch (GB) has appeared as a star name in the catalog for the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training and Yearling Sale, which runs Oct. 27-31. There are 1,627 lots listed in the horses in training section, followed by 104 yearlings on the final day. John Murphy's gray White Birch has had an outstanding career to date, landing the 2023 Ballysax Stakes (G3) on his 3-year-old debut before finishing third in the Epsom Derby (G1). He claimed last year's Tattersalls Gold Cup (G1) title and is still in the field for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) Oct. 5. Other accomplished horses entered for the sale include Deira Mile (IRE), who was fourth in last year's Derby and St Leger Stakes (G1) for Owen Burrows while the Clive Cox-trained A Bit of Spirit (IRE) arrives as the winner of the Solario Stakes (G3). Do Or Do Not (IRE) and Comical Point (IRE) are other 2-year-olds with smart form on the board already. Having sold recent Underwood Stakes (G1) winner Sir Delius (GB) for a sale-record 1.3 million guineas at last year's event, the Coolmore draft will be scrutinized by buyers once again. It contains eye-catching prospects including the St Leger third Stay True (IRE) and other middle-distance types Mount Kilimanjaro, Officer, Puppet Master, Swagman, Thrice, and group 2-stayer Tower of London (IRE). There are other exciting drafts from the likes of Juddmonte, including the unexposed Pinhole, and Imperium Sales with the progressive Push The Limit. View this year's catalog here. The largest collection of 234 will be offered by The Castlebridge Consignment, headed by the listed-winning 4-year-old Military Academy (GB). Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale has a remarkable record of producing winners at the highest level, with purchases winning no less than 168 group/listed races since 2022. "Leading the way is last year's record-breaking 1.3 million-guinea sale topper Sir Delius, who won the group 1 Underwood Stakes, and Poniros, who won the grade 1 Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. That continued success is the key to the sale's enduring appeal and this year's catalog looks set to cater to the usual diverse cross-section of domestic and international buyers, both flat and National Hunt."
