Rhyme Schemes Retired, to Stand at Clear Creek Stud

Rhyme Schemes, dominant winner of the 2023 Saratoga Special Stakes (G2), has been retired to stud duties, and will stand his first season in 2026 at Clear Creek Stud near Folsom, La. The 4-year-old son of 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper was purchased by Deuce Greathouse, on behalf of Pura Vida Investments, for $210,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He was bred in Kentucky by Parks Investment Group. At 2, he broke his maiden at Ellis Park by 9 1/2 lengths, and followed that effort up with another 9 1/2 length win in the Saratoga Special Stakes for trainer Norm Casse. "The fastest horse I've ever purchased, and from a mental aspect, the classiest horse I've had the pleasure of being around," said Greathouse about Rhyme Schemes. Val Murrell, Clear Creek Stud's general manager, added: "We are certainly glad to have an individual coming to Clear Creek Stud with exceptional speed and the ability to carry it. Handsome, put together well with a strong family; I am confident Louisiana breeders will appreciate him and he will serve them well." Brokered by Jay Goodwin of Vinery Sales, Rhyme Schemes will stand his first season for an advertised fee of $3,500 (LFSN), or $3,000 if paid by Sept. 1. If a second mare by the same owner is bred to Rhyme Schemes, there will be a 50% reduction in the second fee. Shares and breeding rights are also available. The colt will be available for viewing after Nov. 1, along with the rest of Clear Creek Stud's roster. The annual stallion show is scheduled for Dec. 6.
