Sweet Treasure Battles Fast Market in Redrawn Pebbles

The $175,000 Pebbles Stakes (G3T), rescheduled from Nov. 16 to Nov. 23 after this past Sunday's card at Aqueduct Racetrack was canceled early in the day due to high winds, deepened with the postponement. A six-horse field last week, it attracted eight 3-year-old fillies to race 1 1/16 miles over the turf, plus an additional main-track only entrant, when the race was redrawn. Hit The Bid Racing Stable's graded-placed Fast Market, drawn on the inside under Flavien Prat, looms a leading contender as she appeared last week. This time, however, she has to deal with the addition of Kentucky shipper Sweet Treasure. The latter, a daughter of Twirling Candy, has won three of four starts for owners Full of Run Racing Two and Frank Silva and trainer Brad Cox. Fast Market, much improved in a pair of outings since blinkers were removed from her racing equipment by trainer John Terranova, broke her maiden Sept. 18 at Aqueduct over a mile trip before finishing a hard-charging second in the Oct. 18 Sands Point Stakes (G3T) over a longer 1 1/8-mile distance on the grass. Fifth-place Paradise City is the only other Sands Point competitor to return in the Pebbles. Besides Fast Market, three others in the Pebbles have earned graded black type, all with stakes placings: Paradise City, It Ain't Two (GB), and Correto. It Ain't Two also won an ungraded stakes race in Britain a little more than a year ago.
