First Foal a Filly for Coolmore's Henry Longfellow
There could hardly have been a more auspicious start for Coolmore's new sire, Henry Longfellow (IRE), when his first foal appeared at nearby Noralla Stud Farm in County Tipperary. The northern lights were visible in many places around Great Britain and Ireland Jan. 19, including over Coolmore itself, where the group 1-winning 2-year-old resides. The bay filly is, by wonderful coincidence, a daughter of the mare Aurora Borealis. "She’s a very attractive filly, full of quality and very correct—a great advert for her sire," said Noralla's Tina Dargan. Aurora Borealis is a daughter of Montjeu and the listed-winning 2-year-old Elaflaak, and enjoyed success in the ring at the 2025 Goffs Orby Sale when her Sioux Nation filly was purchased by Justin Casse for €260,000. Henry Longfellow, who is now standing for €12,500, is bred on the same cross as 2025 champion sire Night of Thunder (IRE) and emulated his sire Dubawi when landing the National Stakes (G1). He is out of Minding, the exceptional Galileo (IRE) mare who won seven group 1 races under the care of Aiden O'Brien and was crowned European champion 2-year-old filly in 2015 and champion 3-year-old the following season. She earned over $3 million during her remarkable career.
