The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) Foundation awarded $46,760 to Kentucky equine nonprofit organizations through its Seattle Slew Grant Program in 2025. With this latest round of funding, the KEEP Foundation has now awarded nearly $100,000 in grants since the grant program's inception in 2023, supporting equine education initiatives across the Commonwealth. The Seattle Slew Grant Program provides funding to Kentucky based non-profits offering equine-related educational programs, events, and outreach efforts. The program reflects the Foundation's ongoing commitment to promoting education while highlighting the importance of the equine industry to Kentucky's heritage and economic vitality. The Seattle Slew Grant Program is open to nonprofit organizations, schools, and other groups engaged in equine-related educational programming and projects. 2025 grant recipients include Amplify Horse Racing, BraveHearts Equine Center, Central Kentucky Riding for Hope, Hank the Horse, Kentucky Equine Adoption Center, Kentucky Equine Management Internship, Lexington Children's Museum, Life Adventure Center, Montgomery County 4-H Saddle Club, Second Stride, the Secretariat Center, and YMCA Camp Ernst. "We are incredibly honored and grateful to receive a 2025 Seattle Slew Grant from the KEEP Foundation. This funding will allow BraveHearts Equine Center to expand our equine educational programming, with a focus on equine care education, heritage learning, and hands-on vocational experiences centered around draft horses. This support helps ensure that knowledge is passed on to future generations. We're deeply thankful to the KEEP Foundation for believing in our mission and investing in the impact of education." Erica Bivens, BraveHearts Equine Center. Applications for 2026 Seattle Slew Grants are now open, with awards of up to $5,000 available and reviews conducted quarterly. KEEP Foundation programs and initiatives are made possible through the continued support of Kentucky's equine industry and proceeds from the Seattle Slew specialty license plate. License plate sales and renewals continue to generate critical funding for education focused initiatives statewide. The Seattle Slew specialty license plate was made possible through the generous support of Karen and Mickey Taylor, owners of Seattle Slew, and Bobby Shiflet, owner of the Tony Leonard Collection, who donated the iconic photograph of Seattle Slew featured on the plate.
