Mrs. Astor Eyes Seventh Stakes Win in Santa Ana

Mrs. Astor, going for stakes win number seven, headlines the $100,000 Santa Ana Stakes (G3T) run at 1 1/4 miles starting in the turn of the downhill turf at Santa Anita Park March 15. The 6-year-old daughter of Lookin At Lucky is aiming for her third victory in a row. Trained by Jonathan Thomas, she enters off a win Jan. 4 in the Astra Stakes at Santa Anita. Last year, she won the Possibly Perfect Stakes, also at 1 1/4 miles on the same course. Owned by Augustin Stables, she also scored in the Santa Barbara Stakes and the Red Carpet Stakes (G3T) for the second year in a row. In 22 lifetime starts, she has won eight races. She's won her past three starts at Santa Anita, all stakes on the turf. The overfilled field includes Paradise Lake, who looms as a threat to Mrs. Astor. She won the Jan. 6 Robert J. Frankel Stakes (G3T) to kick off her 5-year-old season. The daughter of Uncle Mo, trained by Peter Eurton and owned by CRK Stables, was third to Mrs. Astor the last time they met in the Nov. 23 Red Carpet Stakes. All four of Paradise Lake's wins have been at Santa Anita, but she is unproven at the distance. Her lone 1 1/4 mile start came March 30 of 2025, where she was fifth, two lengths behind Public Assembly, who also contests the Santa Ana. Public Assembly, trained by Phil D'Amato, comes in off a fourth-place finish in the Jan. 31 Megahertz Stakes (G3T). The Santa Ana Stakes is the headline of a nine-race card.
