Seventy-Eight Juveniles Cataloged for HBA Training Sale
The Hidaka Horse Breeders Association Training Sale has cataloged 78 juveniles for the May 19 event held at Sapporo Racecourse. One of the notable entries is Hip 61, a filly by Noble Mission (GB), who relocated to JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station in 2021 after standing at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky for six seasons. The filly is a half sister to Diana Halo, winner of the 2017 Kita Kyushu Kinen (G3), and the 2018 Hanshin Cup (G2) and Hankyu Hai (G3). Many of the lots have an American influence in their breeding. Hip 33 is a colt by Gold Ship (JPN), sire of Meisho Tabaru (JPN), who was runner-up to Croix du Nord (JPN) in the Osaka Hai (G1T) at Hanshin April 5. He is out of the Bernardini mare Hatano Bonito, who is the daughter of Shine Again, a two-time winner of the Ballerina Handicap (G1) at Saratoga Race Course. Hip 37 is a colt by Mr Melody, who was bought at the 2017 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale by Narvick International for $400,000 and won the Takamatsunomiya Kinen (G1) in 2019 for Green Fields. His second dam, Mountain Angel, was bred and owned by Sam-Son Farm and won seven races in North America, and was runner-up in the Dance Smartly Handicap (G3) and Maple Leaf Stakes (G3). She was bought by Shadai Farm at the 2005 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, in foal to Gone West for $350,000. The under-tack show starts at 9:30 a.m. local time May 19, and is followed by the sale at 1:00 p.m.
