Shinzo on Speed Dial for Inglis Foal Sale May 4-5

Inspections for this week's Inglis Australian Weanling Sale moved up a notch at Riverside Stables May 3, with growing interest around the first foals of Shinzo (AUS) (Coolmore), Ozzmosis (AUS) (Newgate), Native Trail (GB) (Darley), King's Gambit (IRE) (Newgate), and Hawaii Five Oh (AUS) (Vinery). Shinzo ticks all the boxes as a Golden Slipper (G1)-winning son of Snitzel (AUS), and broodmare owners flocked to him in 2024. He was the most popular freshman that year, and that's been reflected in a quality selection of his youngsters by 11 different vendors over two sessions May 6-7. Lot 43 is a Shinzo filly offered by Noorilim Park. She is a half sister to Blue Diamond Preview (G3) winner Miss Roseiano (AUS), from the famed family of Eight Carat. "She's a belter," Noorilim's Glen Garrick said. "A beautiful mover, lovely hip, shoulder, and deep girth. One of the better fillies we bred last year." Lot 145 is a strongly built bay colt offered by Riverstone Lodge. He's a Shinzo three-quarter brother to group 2-winning sprinter Splintex (AUS), who is making a name as a leading first-crop sire in Western Australia this season. Lot 325 is a leggy filly offered by Alma Vale Thoroughbreds from imported stakes winner Josdesanimaux. "She's a very good type and is a half sister to multiple Hong Kong winner Amazing Kid," Oscar Engelbrecht said. "We also have a Shinzo—Hell's Fury filly (Lot 297) related to Every Rose." Lot 331 is a forward-looking filly from Kela's Turn (Kela) offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds. "She's a cracker of a first foal," Greg Griffin said. "Well-made and muscled with plenty of scope. Her dam is from the Mr. Prospector sireline, and she's being sold on behalf of one of our breeding partnerships." Lot 412 is the sole Shinzo entry from Coolmore, and he's a well-grown first foal from My Xanadu (AUS), a Fastnet Rock (AUS) half sister to black-type winner He's Heaven (AUS). Lot 443 is a big, strong colt offered by Tyreel Stud. He's the second foal of stakes-winner Pacific Dragon, whose yearling filly by The Autumn Sun (Redoute's Choice) made AU$650,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January to the bid of James Harron, Michael Freedman, and Tony Fung. Newgate has cataloged colts from Iamican (I Am Invincible (AUS)) (Lot 310) and Miss Alacrity (Munnings) (Lot 383). "Shinzo is stamping his stock with the same physical presence," Newgate's Beirs Jackson said. "The Miss Alacrity colt is being offered as agent for Belinda Bateman, and the dam's Frankel colt made AU$1 million at the Magic Millions in January." The market has already targeted Shinzo stock on the ground and in utero. Blueblood mare Atlantic Emerald (AUS) (Galileo) was sold with a PPT to Shinzo for AU$410,000 to Justin Carey at the Inglis online Australian Broodmare Sale last week. The Irish-bred mare is a daughter of champion Australian 3-year-old filly Atlantic Jewel (AUS), who won at the top level in the Caulfield Stakes (G1), Thousand Guineas (G1), Memsie Stakes (G1), and All Aged Stakes (G1). "Shinzo is proving to be hugely popular, to the surprise of nobody, and he should have a great week at the Foal Sale," Carey said. "At this stage, the plan is for Atlantic Emerald to go back to Shinzo once we foal her down in a few months."
