Canterbury Park Gets Hall of Fame Weekend Purse Boost

Canterbury Park announced July 10 that its corporate partners CertainTeed, SRS, and JTR Roofing will add $3,500 to each purse on the Minnesota track's eight-race Hall of Fame weekend program July 25. A total of $31,000 will go directly to purses. The Saturday card includes the Ralph Strangis, Minnesota Turf Distaff, and Mr. Dale Filly & Mare Turf Sprint, which are all turf allowance races. The July 26 card features the Victor S. Myers Stakes and Frances Genter Stakes, with $1,500 added bringing the value to $51,500 each. "Working with partners to create added value exposure and increase purses for racehorse owners and trainers is beneficial to everyone," said Kip Rakos, director of corporate partnerships. "We are pleased to make Hall of Fame weekend a more lucrative event for the Minnesota racing industry while also hosting a partner event in our event center." The JTR Roofing Expo day is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25, in Canterbury Park's event center. Representatives from each company will be on-site during the free expo. Interested home and business owners can view products and seek advice. Racing begins at 5:10 p.m. local time July 25 and at 1:10 p.m. July 26.
