Woodbine Cancels July 16 Card Over Poor Air Quality

Woodbine Entertainment announced July 16 that the day's card of live Thoroughbred racing at Woodbine Racetrack is cancelled due to poor air quality. Environment Canada's air quality index for Toronto is listed as "High Risk" and is expected to remain at this level throughout Thursday. Woodbine's decision to cancel comes through consultation with the Ontario Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and is consistent with the AGCO's air quality guidelines. This cancellation has been made in the best interests of the health and safety of our horses and racing participants. Woodbine will look to provide racing opportunities for Thursday's cancelled races on this Sunday's card and into next week. The next card of live racing is scheduled for Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
